Job Description BAE Systems Integrated Defense Solutions (IDS) business is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design, development, and integration of advanced defense systems. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in systems engineering processes, familiarity with defense industry standards, and a passion for supporting national security initiatives. This position will support internal research and development projects and current projects to drive performance excellence in our programs.IDS is a Business Area within the Intelligence & Security (I&S) sector of BAE Systems Inc. The candidate will report directly to the IDS Lead Systems Engineer and will be a member of the core team driving technical innovation within the business. The role can be based at one of our BAE regional offices and may require travel to the I&S Headquarter offices in McLean, VA as well as other sites and customer locations.Specific responsibilities of this position will include but not be limited to:

  • Perform diverse technical work that requires in-depth knowledge and diversified application of systems engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices and techniques
  • Ensure execution of systems engineering processes across the lifecycle, and report on project status and progress measured against specific plans
  • Support the government with the transformation of paper-based documents to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) products
  • Research emerging trends, techniques, methods, and current best practices in the evolution of digital engineering, and be willing to be on the forefront and cutting edge of the field
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in the systems engineering disciplines and ensure cost-effectiveness when developing designs
  • Prepare review packages, present data to both internal and external customers, and provide feedback to improve processes and work to meet engineering objectives
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones and deliverables are achieved on time and within budgetRequired Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor's degree in Systems/Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related disciplineMinimum of six years of experience as a systems engineerProficiency in systems engineering tools and methodologies including requirements management, system modeling, and verification techniquesFamiliarity with defense industry standards and regulations (e.g., MIL-STD, ISO, NIST)Proficiency in systems engineering standards and frameworks (e.g., INCOSE, ISO/IEC 15288)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and find effective solutionsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersProven ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teamsProject and process management skills, including proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills Post-graduate degreeCertification in Systems Engineering (e.g., CSEP, ESEP)Knowledge of Agile and Lean methodologiesKnowledge and experience working in DoD technical services industryPay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $102200 - $173700Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
